Those of you who follow TellusLabs news know the high regard that we have for Pro Farmer and their parent company, Farm Journal Media. Pro Farmer is a leading agriculture news and marketing organization that operates one of the country’s longest-running crop tours, the Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour.

Teams of volunteer scouts join the tour and survey hundreds of corn and  soybean fields across a seven-state area of the Midwest (OH, IN, IL, MN, IA, SD, and NE) with the goal of providing accurate corn and soybean production potential. In 2018, there were approximately 125 participants (including farmers, media, agribusiness, and Pro Farmer staff) that collected over 3,000 corn and soy samples from August 20-23.

After participating in the Midwest Crop Tour for two years, TellusLabs and Pro Farmer have partnered to create an interactive map that visualizes this collected data - we call it the Crop Tour Explorer. This is just the first of more collaborations to come!
