Consistent with Kernel predictions, the USDA sees 2016 shaping up to be a bumper crop for US corn. The newUSDA forecast of 175.1 Bu/Ac published at noon EST today beats the 2014 high of 171.0 Bu/Ac by 2.4%. Relative to today’sKernel forecast for corn of169.5 Bu/Ac, the USDA forecast is 3.3% higher. At this stage in the growing season it seems clear that yields are well above historical norms, although end of season yields will remain sensitive to weather conditions in coming weeks.
